    Jaqueline Brevard J.D. Chair

    Jacqueline E. Brevard brings more than 20 years of experience as a global ethics and compliance professional in the pharmaceutical industry. She is Senior Advisor at GEC Risk Advisory, a global risk, governance, ethics, cyber and crisis advisory firm, serving executives, boards, investors, and advisors to business, non-profits and government. Client assignments range from strategic to tactical, including enterprise and specific risk assessments, crisis planning, integrity program development and evaluation, codes of conduct, and customized education from the boardroom to the shop floor.

    Additionally, Ms. Brevard is a Program Director for The Conference Board, where she provides leadership, guidance and intellectual direction to the Global Business Conduct Council. She also serves as Emeritus Vice Chair on the Board of Directors for the former Ethics and Compliance Officer Association, now the Ethics and Compliance Initiative (ECI), where she served as a Director for over six years, and previously chaired its External Relations and Government Affairs Committees, and Chaired the ERC Fellows Program. She is a member of the faculty for the Leading Professional in Ethics and Compliance (LPEC) certification program at ECI. Ms. Brevard has also served as an Adjunct Faculty member at New York University and Glasgow Caledonian University (NYC). She is currently, a member of the Advisory Board of the Institute for Ethical Leadership at Rutgers University, a member of the Advisory Board of the Healthcare Group Purchasing Industry Initiative (HGPII); and Board Chair of the International Business Ethics Institute.

    Previously Ms. Brevard was Vice President, Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer of Merck & Co., Inc., developing and successfully implementing the first comprehensive Global Ethics and Compliance Program for a top-tier global pharmaceutical company, driving Merck to a leadership position in organizational ethics and compliance. While at Merck, Ms. Brevard developed and published three succeeding editions of the company’s global code of conduct, keeping pace with emerging risks and new developments in the industry. Ms. Brevard also implemented one of the first company-wide “Speak Up” programs in corporate America. Reflecting Ms. Brevard’s influence in the field, she was cited by Ethisphere magazine in 2009 as “One of the 100 Most Influential People in Business Ethics.”

    Ms. Brevard is a published author and a frequent speaker at many distinguished conferences and universities, including ECI conferences, Compliance Week, Practicing Law Institute, the Pharmaceutical Regulatory and Compliance Congress, Institute for Ethical Leadership at Rutgers University, NYU, Georgetown University, St, Mary’s University and Columbia University.

    Before entering the field of business ethics, Ms. Brevard was an international transactional attorney having completed projects in Latin America, Asia-Pacific, Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Ms. Brevard received a J.D. from Rutgers University School of Law and an L.L.M. in International Law from New York University School of Law.
